A Blogging Sabbatical

As I start a new year I have decided to take a break from blogging (this includes interacting on debate-type forums with my good friends at CRN.info and elsewhere).    I have discovered something about myself that I think others knew before I caught on:  I can get fairly absorbed in this cyber-interaction.   There are others things, for the time being, I want to spend more time with.    One of them being my wife and kids.   With the spring semester beginning Wednesday, life can get quite hectic around here with school, church and family.   It is not too difficult for me to duck into my blog and “hide.”    I want to take some time away to lessen that impulse.

I will still be writing and reading and journaling and thinking and praying – as I hope all my friends here continue to do.   Therefore, when I come back from this sabbatical, look out :)    I’ll have both chambers fully loaded and be ready to get what is trapped in my heart and head out into cyberland.

I can still be found on Facebook (add me if you haven’t already) or you are welcome to email me at chad.holtz@duke.edu.   I hope to continue nurturing friendships already made via those mediums.

I leave you with the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer for now.   Will you join me in praying it this year?

I am no longer my own, but thine.  Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.  Put me to doing, put me to suffering.  Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low by thee.  Let me be full, let me be empty.  Let me have all things, let me have nothing.  I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.  And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine.  So be it.  And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.  Amen.

Grace and peace,

Chad Holtz

  1. Well, I for one am terribly disappointed. I will miss your interaction. But I do understand the need for family. And I am terribly envious that you get to be in school. :) Peace, friend.

  2. Word for word I agree with Jerry! Does this mean you’re not joining our discussion of “If Grace is True”? :(

    Grace and peace my friend

  3. Enjoy your sabbatical, I’ll eagerly be awaiting your return to blogging!

    P.S. I didn’t know you were on facebook. You’ve been friend-requested.

  4. I have also enjoyed your contributions over @ crn.info. You have consistently stood your ground in a way that demonstrates both humility and the love of Christ. As a man of colour I especially appreciated your input re the Obama thread. Enjoy the sabbitical and I pray you and your household have a blessed, prosperous and healthy new year.

    Peace brother
