It is no secret in my life or in my preaching (see my Easter sermon titled “From Weeping to Laughing”) that the pivotal event in my life was the remarriage of my mom and dad after several years of divorce on the heels of my mother’s adulterous affair. The fact that my mom was a pastor’s wife and a respectable member of her church and community made this news all the more tragic. Those years following my discharge from the Navy were the most hellish of my life as I watched the two people I loved most seek to destroy each other in every way.
Five years ago I stood as a witness to their remarriage. The way God healed their pain and brokeness, restoring their relationship to something beyond what it ever was even at the beginning is nothing short of a miracle. It is without a doubt my Exodus moment and is the moment I repented of the life I had been leading and plunged head first into becoming what I knew God had called me to be – a pastor.
Last year my mom wrote her “Confessions” and she and my dad now travel around the country speaking at marriage seminars and women’s groups and so forth to let them know about the lies of Satan and the restoration and resurrection possible through Christ. Sure I am biased, but this book is a must read for anyone tempted to seek greener grass, anyone who has already bitten the forbidden fruit and anyone who is searching for solace in the aftermath.
The book can be purchased in many Christian book stores or you can go to Amazon and get it there. My mom, who I am more proud of then any son could be, is named Lyndell Holtz. The book is Confessions of an Adulterous Christian Woman.

The date of the interview is Feb. 27, 2008. The show is an hour long and you can fast forward to about half way through to pick up the beginning of the segment.

Hi Chad,
It was great to read this from you.
Your mom has helped me so very much. Without her words from God and the events that she and your dad went through my husband and I would not be on the way to repairing our marriage. I too had an affair and we divorced as well.
He is back home now and we are continuing to see our Christian counselor and work through many issues and only with God have we been able to do this.
She taught me to open my heart to God and by doing so I was able to cry out to him.
I have lost contact with your mom since she and your Dad moved.
Please give her my best and if she gets a chance drop me e-mail.

Dear Kim,
Thank you for sharing your heart here! What a wonderful testimony to God’s reconciling power and love that is going on in your life. I will certainly pass this on to my mom.
May God continue to lead you and your husband!
grace and peace,
Chad
